Combining the unique printed quality of linocuts with the versatility of digital technology allows me to create rich, layered textures, text and colours in my artwork. My linocut illustrations begin with a drawing on linoleum. Once the image is carved, I hand-print my linocut using water soluble ink. Next, I scan the lino print to create a digital image that can be fine-tuned with colour and text. Preserving the printed texture of the linocut is an important part of my process. Working in a digital format allows my illustrations to be used in a variety of applications.
